Invisible Illness Awareness Week

It seems that every week there is a new illness to be aware of – and this week is no different.

This week is Invisible Illness Awareness Week!  This is an awareness week that is close to my heart as I have a couple of invisible illnesses, so whilst I might look pretty healthy, I’m not.

Invisible illnesses encompass illnesses like arthritis, lupus,  heart disease, Crohn’s Disease and cancer.  This awareness week is to bring together people with chronic illnesses and educate the community.

There is a whole heap of things going on to get the message out.  The Invisible Illness Week Blog features articles by many guest posters all living with a chronic invisible illness.  Also, there is an online conference featuring speakers talking about topics such as applying for disability, caring for ageing parents and finding work. If you are unable to tune in live, all sessions can be found here.  There are also some great prizes to be won just for leaving a comment!

To help spread the word, please think about writing a blog post about Invisible Illness, paying a visit to bloggers who blog about invisible illness or share some linky love.

  1. Thanks for sharing! I’m running a contest for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month if you’d like to come by and/or spread the word about that as well :)

  2. when i was working as a nurse, i was always amazed that the tenacity of us humans…how we can plug along & look so calm on the surface, yet underneath a great struggle ensues.
